Kamala Gauchan has come a long way. The first leg of her journey took her from Katmandu to a tiny storefront in by Jackson Heights, Queens. In a space that barely fit three diners, she served up Nepali pickles and air dried her beef jerky called Sukuti. We’ve been wanting to take you to Dhaulagiri Kitchen, this fantastic place for months but it’s just too small. We even considered renting the driveway next door and setting up a dining space there.

But that’s not necessary any more, because Kamala’s second big journey has taken her fro Jackson Heights to Manhattan’s Murray Hill. She’s opened up a new place, by the same name, and thank god it seats thirty people. She’s making us a few special dishes, just for us, so this is a meal not to be missed.
